Garmin 660

I
do over the road trucking and must find many new addresses. This unit
is very good at what it does, but does not replace good directions and
common sense, it compliments them. Nice to know left exits, and
distance to location, etc. I would recommend it to anyone as a tool to
be used while driving. Haven't used many of the features yet but may
later. Bluetooth, audiobooks, etc. Traffic alerts in big cities are
handy, but usually just let you know you're in for a bit of a wait. Not
too many errors yet, but a few. These tools have their own little
quirks. We sometimes disagree on routes and the little unit is very
stubborn! Overall tho, I'd buy again. |
Easy to learn and use...highly recommend

I
love it because it is portable, small enough for purse. Very easy to
use and enter information. I do not like that you have to be very
specific with the address or it cannot find what you are looking for,
example for Highway 67 you have to type State Highway, sometimes US
Highway, that is my only complaint. |

I
purchased the 660 for as a Chrismas gift for my wife and She loves it.
It's easy to use, when you miss a turn it recalculates and redirects
you within seconds. My daughter of whom gets lost within 5 minutes of
the house depends on it. The bluetooth is gread for the phone. POI are
very good. I have a Cobra, and prefer using the Garmin. |

I
looked at many GPS systems. This is the model that I settled for. It
was actually a Christmas present from my wife. She told to pick one out
and bid on it. I am very pleased with it. It will work thru your FM
stereo system in your vehicle and is Bluetooth capable. The item was
just as descibed and was brand new. I recevied it fast. I paid about
$275.00 less than what I would have paid at BestBuy or Bass Pro Shops.
I highly recommend this model to anyone wishing to purchase one. Joe Roberson |

Excellent graphics and voice commands. Excellent in providing instructions. I purchased a bean-bag mount for the Garmin and it works great. Much better that the window mount. |

Overall
I like the Garmin Nuvi 660. Love all the features especailly if you
forget your phone. However I am not impress with the battery life, w/o
the charger it seem to go dead with in a hour or so:( Dont know if I
have a bad battery or if its just the unit itself.. |

Garmin
nuvi 660 is this mans' new toy. You can get anywhere and that includes
addresses and businesses for which you only know the name and not the
address. Smart, quite, good pronunciation of streets and routes.
Changes to not affect your night driving...which is excellent. Well
worth the price you pay for it. Still learning how fully use it. It's a
wise investment and can be used for years to come. |

Major flaws

There’s
been enough said by other reviewers how portable the unit is, how fast
it acquires satellites, how much better it makes your travel (which, of
course, any navigation system would do), however this review is not
about the strong sides of the unit, it’s about it major flaws. #1. Maps are outdated. Both roadways and points of interest. Example: IKEA in Paramus, NJ on Rt 4 and 17 opened in 2003 is not shown on 2008 nuvi maps, curiously Ikea Drive is. Roadways are slightly better – if something is missing (like a “new” exit or a “new” street) you still get directions – longer commute but you still get to your final destination. #2. 3D view is annoying (applies mostly to city driving – under 50 mph). Due to slow gps location refresh rate (once a second) and absence of any kind of sensors (such as acceleration and yaw sensors that are present in other manufactures GPS devices – helps correct position), the location of the vehicle on the screen always lags behind your actual location. Observed it on my 660, on two 650, on one 760 and on 250W – all had the same lag issue in 3D mode. All units had the most recent software update from Garmin web site. I have tried changing 3D view to 2D “Track Up” view – lag goes away. The only problem is that nuvi does not allow you to keep the scale you like, zooming out and making the map too small to read. #3. Good luck using FM transmitter. Unless your vehicle FM antenna is right next to your GPS you get background noise all the time. MP3 quality through FM transmitter is really bad. I kind of found a way to circumvent crappy FM transmitter by connecting the unit audio output directly to my car audio system (possible connections – ipod or tape player). #4. Cannot avoid part on the route (unless it’s a next turn). #5. Cannot add more then one stop to your route. #6. Traffic is not always where it’s shown on the map and vice versa. (though it’s not Garmin’s problem, it’s TMC) Overall it’s very good. Annoying, but good. |

My
husband will be retiring this yr and we have a RV and hope to get use
out of it without getting lost. My Daughter moved resently to another
state. I travel a lot alone and feel much safer now that I have our
GPS. We are having fun with the short trips, cuz it's so easy to use. We have alot of extras and are figuring out how to use them. The price was great. The sellers were very helpful when a slight problem came up. I wasn't going to be home to sign for it and we worked together to make sure we recieved it on time. I would suggest anyone interested in a GPS to use Ebay and this seller. |

I
really like the accuracy of the mapping software and the ease of use.
The unit is very simple to operate and any one can use it. The only
complaint about the unit that I have is with the volume of the unit. In
my vehicle there is not enough volume to clearly here the directions
once the vehicle is traveling above about 45 mph. The volume is just
not load enough to hear the directions or use the bluetooth phone
connection. Both were features that I purchased the unit for. I have contacted Garmin and undated the software with no improvement. If I play the sound through the radio I can increase the volume enough to here it but then I can not listen to the radio...... Other than this problem the unit works great |

I
bought this for my husband for Christmas. It was the one he wanted. He
absolutely loves it! Our son has the same system, so the learning of
how to actually use the system was much easier than if my husband had
to actually read the instruction manual. As long as he's happy, so am

Works
like Magic. I'm the Driver in the Family but I don't know the Direction
or the Area that we all going. Depending on my better half for the
Direction is work and Frustrating. Always telling me to Turn at the
Last Minute or can't Figure out a Map. The Garmin NuVi 660 GPS is worth
every Penny. Punch in the Destination, you can adjust to take the Rural
or Highway route. And if you are looking for the closest store or
Restaurant it does that too (just like a Yellow Page). Perfect for
International Travel because it also have a English to Foreign Language
Feature(*one time pay download for this feature). That help you said
the English words in a different Language(Spanish, French, German, and
etc). I make sure I don't leave home without it if I am leaving town.
My Family Love it, I drive, they sleep, and we get there with no Stress
and no Fight. |

I
gave this to my fiance for X-mas and he LOVES it. He never has to ask
directions again! He especially likes the bluetooth phone option. We
used it to go to San Antonio, Houston, and all over Dallas. I
researched alot of GPS systems and this one has it all. I would
recommend the nuvi 660 to anyone looking for a GPS. |
